

In 1837, the City of Chicago adopted the motto "Urbs in Horto" translating to "City in a Garden" - come along as I venture into its 188 years of growth and community.
Sharing the natural history of Chicago's environmental movement - from all of the amazing community led projects, current conversations organizations, businesses, hot topics, events to the people behind the work! Hopefully supporting those visiting to feel a sense of belonging and/or understanding of the natural world around them.

In exploring and understanding the entire landscape of "The City in a Garden" you'll encounter stories of the underlying racial justice work that has been done in efforts to rectify the environmental disinvestment/harm enacted on marginalized communities.
Explore the stories and place emphasis on the emotions they've brought others and you when entering green spaces. Consider the locational history when engaging with the space and the various parties sharing the space.
